Integrated Canine Intervention Program
The Integrated Canine Intervention Program (ICIP) is a collaborative product of Pawsitive Horizons, the Prince George Humane Society, and Marcel Gagnon, respected elder with the Lheidli Tenneh, and creator of Awaken: The Medicine Man Within. ICIP strives to draw innovation and tradition together in a collaborative and holistic program that helps revitalize First Nations health and healing, at an individual, community, and cultural level. Through integrating First Nations health and healing practices with canine assisted interventions (CAI), ICIP is in a unique position to promote health and healing while minimizing intervention barriers, respectively, with First Nations youth at risk.
Victims of Trauma
In collaboration with community partners, intervention canines (ICs) are being utilized to support victims of trauma by lessening the impact of crime and trauma on victims and their families and to assist them in their recovery at the scene of crisis, in post-trauma support services, and in court. In partnership with the justice system, Pawsitive Horizons provides one-on-one canine assisted intervention (CAI) services for incarcerated youth to aid disclosure, rehabilitation, and reintegration and improve the prospects, health, and wellbeing of incarcerated youth and reduce the risk of reoffending. Pats for Paws
The Pat’s for Paws (P4P) program is a partnership between the St. Patrick’s House Society, Corrections Services Canada (CSC), the Prince George Humane Society (PGHS), and Pawsitive Horizons. The P4P program offers parolees and persons with substance abuse problems the opportunity to take the responsibility and learning opportunity of care-taking, training, and aiding in the behavioural rehabilitation (if applicable) of a rescue canine(s) provided by the PGHS. The Train Walk Track (TWT) program is the product of a partnership between the John Howard Society (JHS), the Prince George Humane Society (PGHS), Corrections Services Canada (CSC), and Pawsitive Horizons. In partnership with Axis Family Resources, Pawsitive Horizons provides one-on-one CAI services for at-risk youth to improve the prospects, health, and wellbeing of at-risk youth and mitigate the risk of criminal offending and substance abuse.

In collaboration with community partners, Pawsitive Horizons is integrating ICs into support for the social, emotional, behavioural, and intellectual development of individuals with mental health challenges and/or disabilities.
